Material Properties
Acrylic is manufactured using plastic which consists of one or more derivatives of acrylic acid. PMMA or Polymethyl Methacrylate acrylic being one of the most widely used forms of acrylic due to the exceptional weather resistant capability and versatility. Though cast acrylic is a thermosetting plastic with a glossy surface finish, flatness and optical properties. Hard and brittle as a material, it is sensitive for stress concentrations.

Cutting Edges, Widths & Kerf
The minimum cut width should not be smaller than the corresponding thickness of the material. For instance while cutting from 1mm Acrylic Sheet, nothing less than 1 mm in width should be allowed. The bigger the sheet and cutting, better is the acrylic for the application. Cutting the edges for acrylic can be little tricky as these are fragile as a material, therefore we cut these with laser technology. All of our acrylics provide highly polished edge.

Laser Cutting
We use high laser frequency (ppi. pulses per inch) to cut and melts the edges. While you look into the edges and the cutting of the sheets, you will find out they are not entirely smooth but made up of lots of tiny vertical lines. This is caused by the pulses of the laser which is more evident on thicker acrylic.

Various Engravings
Laser engraving is a shallow cosmetic light surface scratching. Vector engraving helps to protect the top and bottom surface from heat marks from cutting. In Raster engraving, the top layer of protective backing is removed to prevent any reverse markings. Deep engraving is slower in speed but it is engraved deep using the high power. This is not suitable for making mechanical grooves or any features requiring precise depths. These are delicate materials therefore, it takes large artwork that covers most of a sheets surface area. Though, we always advise to use thicker acrylic sheets where possible, especially when your artwork is expansive.
